Welcome Back!!

We hope everyone had a wonderful summer and we look forward to a healthy, safe and happy school year!
****Evert family is receiving this memo as email, and also it is published on www.saintbridgetschool.info. ****

Please make all after school arrangements clear to everyone involved before the children come to school! The children get very anxious when they don’t have a note they know, or think, they should have or are confused about where or with whom they are going after school. Any change in plans MUST be sent to school in WRITING, by the parent/guardian making the changes (not the person providing the ride). Just telling your child to tell the teacher is not sufficient; otherwise we must send the children to their usual destination. (Verbal permission over the phone is not sufficient). Staying after school must be decided on and arranged ahead of time with a written note, not a phone call the day of the change.

CORIs: Don’t forget! Anyone planning to interact with the children must have a CORI. Come to the School Office! “Protecting God’s Children”, Thursday Oct. 1st, 7-10pm, at St. Bridget School Hall  or Saturday Oct. 3rd, 11am-2pm, St. George’s Church, Saxonville. Please call Maria Cole at the Rectory for registration. (CORI’s every year, Protecting God’s Children, only once)

From the Health Office:

·     ATTENTION 7TH GRADE PARENTS: State Law mandates that all children entering 7th grade must have a tetanus booster. This information must be provided to the Health Office no later than Sept. 25, 2009.

·        ATTENTION 4th  GRADE PARENTS:  It is required that all 4th grade students have an up to date physical on file in the nurse’s office.

·        During the Open House evenings scheduled for Sept. 21 (K1-5) and Sept. 22nd (Middle School), the nurses will be giving an update regarding the H1N1 flu.

·        Volunteers are needed for Health Screening Days October 5 and 6. Testing will include; HT.,Wt., Vision, Hearing and Posture. Training is available. Please call the nurse’s office. Thank You!

NOTES FROM THE OFFICE:

Ø      The forms you received in the August mailing should be in the school office by now. If not, please send them in ASAP. Most important are the  Orange IRIS form and the Yellow Emergency Data Form.  It is imperative that we be able to contact you while your child is in our care, without this information we are unable to respond to your child in an emergency situation.

Ø      Please remember to call the school to report absences and send a note to the school office when the children return to school.

Ø      School Pictures will be taken Wed. Sept 9th. (Uniform must be worn)

Ø      The children are not permitted to make telephone calls for forgotten items (i.e. Lunches, money, books, reports, etc.) Only “Emergency” messages will be given to the children during the school day. (Parent Handbook, pg 19)

Ø      MUSIC LESSONS: Sept. 9th, at 1:30pm, representatives from the Paul Effman Music Program will be here to present to the students, grades 3-8 (and any parents who wish to attend), details regarding music lessons to be offered Tuesday afternoons after school.

·        BOOK CLUB NEWS: The following students/families have donated books to the school’s library over the summer months: Mia, Madeleine, Brittany, Dominic, Michaud Family, Juliette, Zizza Family and Chris. Thank you all for the wonderful titles.

·        FYI for new members of the St. Bridget School family.  The library accepts donations of new and gently used books.  These books will be bookplated with the student’s name and the special occasion prompting the donation before they are added to the collection.

If purchasing a new book, check out the Giving Tree for some title suggestions.

Once again, the school is participating in these two easy fundraisers with all profits going

to the Library for books and videos.  Check out the companies’ websites for lists of

participating brands/products and also the required proofs of purchase.

Forward all proofs of purchase to Mrs. Buckley in the Library.  Thank you so much for participating, every little bit helps!

We are in need of Parent Substitute Teachers: Anyone wishing to be a Substitute (At least a BA/BS needed) for an absent teacher. Please pick up an application at the office (or have your child ask Mrs. Feeney for one).

It’s Here!!! That’s right. The Square 1 Art fundraiser is about to begin! This week students will begin their design for their Square 1 art work. Please see Ms. Tomkins or Clare Dykeman if you would like an extra square to create a family masterpiece or for a sibling of a St. Bridget child.  All squares must be turned in by the 5th of October with the label at the top completely filled out. Start creating!
