Parents/Guardians,

Ø Please remember to call the school to report absences and send a note to the school office when the children return to school.

Ø The children are not permitted to make telephone calls for forgotten items (i.e. Lunches, money, books, reports, etc.) Only “Emergency” messages will be given to the children during the school day. (Parent Handbook, pg 19)

Afterschool Activities: Afterschool activities (Music, Scouts, Choir, Craft Club, Chess Club, etc) have or will be starting soon. Siblings should not be staying with their brothers or sisters taking part in the activities, unless a parent is present. Also, teachers MUST be notified as to who is picking up the children after their activity is over. Those picking up should not enter the building but should wait outside, the teacher/activity leader will bring the children outside to meet them. Thank you for your anticipated cooperation.

Extended Day enrollment is now closed. We will only be able to accept additional students in emergency situations only. If space becomes available, we will let you know. Thank you for your understanding. - Mrs. Peterson, Director of Extended Day.

· During the Open House evenings scheduled for tonight Sept. 21 (K1-5) and tomorrow night Sept. 22^nd (Middle School), the nurses will be giving an update regarding the H1N1 flu.

Boxtops for Education Summer Blitz Raffle: The totals are in!! We collected $178.00 worth of Boxtops for Education and 468 Campbells’ Labels for Education during the first two days of school. WOW. Please keep clipping and sending them in. FYI Boxtops for Education are now on Avery school products.
Wall of Great American Readers: We have our first Great American Reader: Leonardo in 5L has completed reading four titles from the Picturing America Bookshelf. Congratulations, Leonardo.

From the Health Office:

· ATTENTION 7^TH GRADE PARENTS: State Law mandates that all children entering 7^th grade must have a tetanus booster. This information must be provided to the Health Office no later than Sept. 25, 2009.

· ATTENTION 4th GRADE PARENTS: It is required that all 4^th grade students have an up to date physical on file in the nurse’s office.

· A gentle reminder: We encourage healthy lunches for the children including fruits and vegetables.

· Volunteers are needed for Health Screening Days October 5 and 6. Testing will include; HT.,Wt., Vision, Hearing and Posture. Training is available. Please call the nurse’s office. Thank You!

St Bridget School is participating in the BJ’s Wholesale Club “Fuel Your Fundraiser Offer” again this year, please see flyer and application attached to this memo. Contact person = Mary Ann Sager 508-872-4989 or masager5@yahoo.com.

HARVEST NIGHTS AUCTION: 7:00 P.M. OCTOBER 17^TH @ The Sheraton Tara

INVITATIONS GOING HOME WITH STUDENTS TODAY…CHECK BACKPACKS!

This remains one of the schools largest fundraisers of the year, as well as the most enjoyable event for parents. We have some great new additions to this event and there are lots of items that would make great Christmas Gifts. Why not get a head start on some of your shopping while helping out the school at the same time! Please return response cards via the PTO mailbox ASAP to reserve your spot. Donations: We are still looking for donation of items and services. Remember, be creative, and no donation is too small! Please send in donation forms to Kellianne Erath c/o PTO box ASAP. Donations can either be dropped off at the school or arrangements can be made to have it picked up by a committee member. We are still looking for donations of bottles of wine for the WINE RAFFLE at this year’s auction. So check your wine rack and donate a bottle or two! Wine Donations can be brought to the Open Houses Monday or Tuesday evening of this week. There will be a box designated in the School Hall for these donations. Thank you!

Free Childcare Available for Open House Nights!: 8^th graders and a parent volunteer will be providing childcare in the art room on the Open House nights, September 21 and 22. Space is at a premium, so we ask that you reserve a slot for your child by Friday, September 18. Reservations are limited to the first 25 respondents. Please email jryan@saintbridgetschool.info to reserve your slot. This is a great way to enable both parents to attend Open House while at the same time providing our 8^th graders with a community service opportunity.
Congratulations to Alison Kerins, the lucky winner of the PTO Volunteer raffle basket. Alison won two ticket to CoCo Keys Water Park and 2 tickets to the Boston Aquarium. Thank you Alison for volunteering!

Last Week For Team Up For St Bridget School Fall Fundraiser

The Team Up For St Bridget School Fall Fundraiser ENDS Friday September 25^th. This is an important fundraiser for St Bridget School as the proceeds benefit EVERY student and help fund additional enrichment programs and field trips. Please see the attached Fall Fundraiser Prize sheet as well as the Fall Fundraiser Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) sheet for details. A couple of questions that have come up this week are:

1. Do we collect the MA sales tax when collecting payment? NO Please do not add tax onto your sales order.
2 Will the pies/cakes/bulbs be delivered in time for Thanksgiving/Fall planting? YES. All of the school order will come on the same day – sometime during the last week in October/first week of November. We will find out the delivery date once the complete order has been submitted.

The school will make a 50% profit on our sales (40% on selected items). In addition to Team Up prizes listed in the catalog prize flyer the PTO is offering great participation prizes. Please remember that far away friends and family may participate in the drive by ordering on-line at www.minkco.com . A “How To” e-mail for online ordering was sent out to families by e-mail this week for easy forwarding.
