St. Bridget School and Barnes&Noble are teaming up for an in-store Book Fair during Catholic Schools Week.
All day Thursday, February 4^th a percentage of any purchase made using the name of St. Bridget School will result in a donation to our parish school. A selection of our children’s art work will be on display. From 5:00 – 7:00 pm students will present original poetry readings and the St. Bridget Children’s choir will present musical selections.

Mrs. Buckley, our school librarian, has chosen a selection of books which may be purchased and donated to our school library. Please join us!

Friday, January 29, St. Bridget School Student Council sponsored a munchkin breakfast and dress down day to benefit Haiti. It was very successful, raising in excess of $930. A big THANK YOU to the Green Family for their donation of 1100 munchkins and 10 Boxes of Hot Chocolate which made our large donation to Haiti through Catholic Relief Services possible.

There will be no hot lunch served on Thurs. Feb. 11th due to the enrichment program that day. All the children need to bring a lunch which they will eat in the classrooms.

Thank you to all students and parents who gave up their Sunday morning to be here for the 9AM Mass and Open House for Prospective Families.

PTO NEWS:

Feb 1^st (Monday) --- Coin Drive begins and continues for the month of February.
Feb 3^rd (Wednesday) ---Teacher and Staff Luncheon – hosted by the 2^nd – 5^th grade families. ** Classroom monitors will be needed, contact rsmichaud16@mac.com
Feb 4^th (Thursday) --- Enrichment Program – Animal Adventures – shows at 8:30 am and 9:45 am as part of the activities for Catholic Schools Week.
Feb 5^th (Friday) --- Ice Cream Sundaes, students make ice-cream sundaes with the toppings.
Feb 6^th (Saturday) --- Comedy Night, doors open at 7, show starts at 8pm. (Note: the date has changed from original calendar.)

Feb 9^th (Tuesday) --- Our next PTO Meeting is at 7:30pm. We hope you can join us.
Feb 15^th (Monday)---Magic Show, Walsh School, Snack Sale to benefit St Bridget 10, show, 10:30.

From the Library:

Book-It! It is time to send in your January Book- It! Calendar pages! February calendar pages were distributed to the students last week.
Box Tops for Education and Campbell’s Labels for Education: Please keep clipping these proofs of purchase and sending them in! All proceeds from these two easy fundraisers are used to purchase books and videos for the school’s library. Thank you to all who are loyal clippers!
Book Club News: The following students/families have recently donated books to the school’s library: Kelsey Lopez, Maggie MacIsaac, Roman Morelli, Amelia Pyron, and the Piselli Family. Thank you for the wonderful titles. If you would like to make a donation of a new book, check out the Giving Tree for some title suggestions. If making a donation of used books, please send in only gently worn books and include your name on or in the bag/box.

From the Business Office: For those families who will be applying for financial assistance for 2010-11, you may go online now and file an application. Please be sure to advise Mrs. Sebastian in the tuition office if you are going to file so she may add your name to her list for consideration simone@stbridgetparish.org.

ALSO: REMINDER TO ALL SCHOOL PARENTS WHO RECEIVE THE IN-PARISH TUITION RATE, IT IS YOUR RESPONSIBILITY TO MAKE SURE THAT YOUR DONATIONS TO THE PARISH ARE UP-TO-DATE AND THAT YOU WILL HAVE DONATED $624 FROM APRIL 1, 2009 THROUGH MARCH 31, 2010. IF YOU ARE UNSURE OR HAVE ANY QUESTIONS, PLEASE CONTACT MARIA COLE AT 508-875-5959.

FYI: Snow Days, Mr. Rick Gallagher, Director of School Transportation, relying largely upon the Dept. of Public Works and the Police Dept., as well as personal observations, will relay by telephone, the condition of the roads, sidewalks and parking areas at the schools to Dr. Steven Hiersche, School Superintendent. The Superintendent will make the decision and notify the school principals and the media. If the radio and television say there is no school in Framingham Public Schools, that means there is no school at St.Bridget’s.

The only circumstances under which Mrs. Mungovan would make the decision to close the school would be in an emergency specific to St. Bridget School.

In case of snow please do not call St. Bridget School. We will use our IRIS (Emergency Response System) to notify all families by telephone. Also you can check the radio and television for the announcement regarding Framingham Public Schools.” As far as calling school during the day, the same procedure is followed. Since we depend on the school buses, it is the school bus director and the Superintendent of Schools who make that decision and tell us; again we would use the IRIS telephone system to notify you.

Every parent should feel free to determine for themselves whether or not their child should come to school when the weather is questionable.
