REMINDER: Halloween Party Meeting, Monday, Oct. 19, 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm in the School Hall. We will be discussing the Halloween Jobs list and confirming tentative assignments, as well as, entertaining your questions. New volunteers are welcome to work at the party... In addition, What We Need: Cakes for Cake Walk, Drinks, Snacks (some peanut free and allergy free). Please come Oct. 19 or contact Lynne Crowley 508 872 5457. Thanks.

Student Council News:

v Black and Orange Day! October 30^th. Students should dress in Black and/or Orange You do not have to bring in a dollar to dress down because we will also be be having a Bake Sale on the same day. There will be lots of yummy Halloween treats!

v Bulletin Board Decorating! During the last week of October all classes should design Halloween decorations for the wall outside their classroom. Classes may start decorating on the 26^th. Judging will be on the 30^th. The winning class will have 30 minutes of extra recess as their prize!

v The student council is donating $100. to the Breast Cancer Organization since it is Breast Cancer Awareness month.

From the Library:

· Wall of Great American Readers: Congratulations to Alexandra Rider and Giovanna Stefanini who are our latest Great American Readers. Their stars have been added to the Wall of Great American Readers located outside the Library. Information about the Great Wall can be found on the Library’s Website on Teacher Web on the Project’s page.

· Boxtops for Education and Campbell’s Labels for Education: The fall submission dates for these two fundraisers is fast approaching. If you have any proofs of purchase at home, please send them in ASAP. All proceeds go for the purchase of new books and videos for the school’s library. Check out the Frequently Asked Questions section of the Library’s Website on Teacher Web for links to the lists of participating products. Thanks for your continued support.

PTO ITEMS:

Save the Date: The Craft Fair has been postponed until Sunday, March 21^st. We hope to capitalize on the Easter Season and take advantage of the underutilized Spring market. There are many fairs in the fall and only a few in the Spring. For more information contact: Patti McCarthy at PJSMcCarthy@verizon.net.

Junior Achievement - Our school will once again participate in the JA program for grades 4-8 this year. It is time to send out a "call for volunteers". If you are not familiar with the program you may visit their website at www.ja.org . From their website: "Junior Achievement is the world’s largest organization dedicated to educating students in grades K-12 about entrepreneurship, work readiness, and financial literacy through experiential, hands-on programs." In short, we ask volunteer parents to come into classrooms and using a ready made "kit" provided by JA, guide the students through the program. The teacher stays in the classroom, but the volunteer runs the program. Parents and students alike have loved the program and the unique opportunity it presents. To volunteer you do not need any teaching experience just enthusiasm. The kits have everything you will need. The time commitment is approximately 30 min prep time and 45 min in the classroom. The program will start in January and will run 5 weeks for 4th and 5th grade, and 6 weeks for the middle school. News from the Admissions Office:

First, I would like to thank all of our families that filled out both the Admissions survey and the 3-year old survey. I appreciate your time and effort. I have read all of your comments and look forward to implementing your wonderful suggestions and will work to improve on your concerns
Secondly, we are gearing up for our first Open House. It is scheduled for Thursday November 19^th, from 7:00pm to 8:30pm. At this Open House we begin in the cafeteria and send groups of potential parents off with current parent and student tour guides. I am in need of parent and student volunteers for the evening. Parents, I need volunteers to be tour guides, to work the welcome table and to work the coffee/snack table. Ideally we would like to have students in 4^th grade and up who would be comfortable speaking about the school and the curriculum to the potential families. I need at least 10-15 parents and would like to have 2 kids per parent to go on the tour. Please contact me at jryan@saintbridgetschoool.info if you would like to help.
Finally, we are once again going to advertise this Open House using our new Yard Signs. We have increased the number of signs and would like to put them in prominent places throughout the Metrowest area, including Framingham, Ashland, Hopkinton, Southborough, Wayland and Natick. Pennies for Haiti: If anyone has filled their piggy bank with coins, please bring it in to empty into the pot and take it home to continue to save your coins!

International Student Exchange Program: We have had a good response from families interested in hosting Korean Students. If there is anyone else interested, please get in touch with Mrs. Mungovan for more information.
