Friday, January 29, St. Bridget School Student Council will be sponsoring a dress down day and munchkin breakfast as a fundraiser to help our neighbors in Haiti. Although our sister school, L’ecole du Village, was untouched during the earthquake, the pictures we see of the Haitian people are heartbreaking and the children are anxious for St. Bridget School to help in any way we can. Therefore, we will wear red/white/blue (the colors of the Haitian flag) for $1 and enjoy a munchkin/hot chocolate/apple juice breakfast for $2. We will send the money to Haiti through the Catholic Relief Services.

PTO NEWS:

****LUNCH PLAN PROGRAM:  Just a reminder that all lunch plan balances should be a positive balance.  This is a pre-paid Lunch Plan Program. Lunch balances are emailed each month.  You should be a receiving a separate email for each student.  If you are not receiving an email for your son or daughter please email Kellianne Erath – Erath@rcn.com.  Thank you for your immediate attention to negative balances.

Annual Fund Campaign Update:
Sincere thanks to everyone who has contributed to the Annual Fund.  To date, contributions total $10,290, or 51% of our goal of $20K. Special thanks to those who have obtained matching gifts from their companies. Every dollar makes a big difference in the education of our students.  Thank you! If you have yet to contribute, please consider doing so by June 30, 2010.  Thanks again.

From Mrs. Ryan: Sunday, January 31st, there is an Open House for Prospective Families from 10am to 1pm. Parent volunteers and students from Grade 4 and up are needed to help lead tours and provide visitors with information about Saint Bridget School. If you can and would like to help please call Jen Ryan

From the Business Office: For those families who will be applying for financial assistance for 2010-11, you may go online now and file an application.  Please be sure to advise Mrs. Sebastian in the tuition office if you are going to file so she may add your name to her list for consideration simone@stbridgetparish.org.

ALSO: REMINDER TO ALL SCHOOL PARENTS WHO RECEIVE THE IN-PARISH TUITION RATE, IT IS YOUR RESPONSIBILITY TO MAKE SURE THAT YOUR DONATIONS TO THE PARISH ARE UP-TO-DATE AND THAT YOU WILL HAVE DONATED $624 FROM APRIL 1, 2009 THROUGH MARCH 31, 2010.  IF YOU ARE UNSURE OR HAVE ANY QUESTIONS, PLEASE CONTACT MARIA COLE AT 508-875-5959.

New Children's Programs at the Framingham Public Library:

FYI: Snow Days, Mr. Rick Gallagher, Director of School Transportation, relying largely upon the Dept. of Public Works and the Police Dept., as well as personal observations, will relay by telephone, the condition of the roads, sidewalks and parking areas at the schools to Dr. Steven Hiersche, School Superintendent. The Superintendent will make the decision and notify the school principals and the media. If the radio and television say there is no school in Framingham Public Schools, that means there is no school at St.Bridget’s.

The only circumstances under which Mrs. Mungovan would make the decision to close the school would be in an emergency specific to St. Bridget School.

In case of snow please do not call St. Bridget School. We will use our IRIS (Emergency Response System) to notify all families by telephone. Also you can check the radio and television for the announcement regarding Framingham Public Schools.” As far as calling school during the day, the same procedure is followed. Since we depend on the school buses, it is the school bus director and the Superintendent of Schools who make that decision and tell us; again we would use the IRIS telephone system to notify you.

Every parent should feel free to determine for themselves whether or not their child should come to school when the weather is questionable.
