Facilities
School Hall & Cafeteria
This multi-purpose room serves as the school hall and cafeteria. Students also attend gym here when the weather does not allow for outdoor exercise. As a school hall, the room has a stage for plays and school activities. It also has a sound system and lighting for stage productions. The cafeteria includes full kitchen facilities and serves a daily lunch. The hall also serves a function area for the parish and seats 200 – 300 people.
Science Lab
The science lab is large classroom setup with lab tables and chairs where students have the opportunity to conduct experiments and learn about earth science, life science and the human body in the science lab. Equipment such as microscopes, scales and dissection tools are used in conducting experiments. Audio visual equipment is on-site for movies and presentations.
Art Room
| The art room is a large bright classroom decorated with examples of artwork from St. Bridget’s students. Throughout the room there is shelving and storage for a large amount or art materials and space for storing projects in process. Students enjoy creating art of various types including printmaking, drawing, painting (Watercolors, temper) and sculpture. A variety of materials are used to create art including: inks, charcoal, pen and ink, colored pencil, construction paper, air dry clay, oil clay, papier-mâché, plaster gauze, found objects and drawing paper. A kiln is being added to the art room in the 2007/2008 school year. |
Music Room
The music room has a piano and many musical instruments. Pictures of composers decorate the walls. Students learn about music practice singing songs for church and school programs, and learn about musical instruments. Students watch/listen to musical shows and have the opportunity to join the school choir or learn to play an instrument.
Library (automated)
The school library is a fully automated facility staffed by a professional librarian who instructs students in the use of the library and in research skills. There are three computers connected to the Internet for students to use. Students in Grades Kindergarten through Eight are able to check out books for research or reading for pleasure. The role of the library is to support and enhance the work of the classroom experience.
The school library possesses periodicals, biographies, picture books, reference materials, works of fiction and non-fiction books. Each year the school librarian purchases 500 – 600 new volumes to update the current library inventory.
The librarian maintains a video collection for use by teachers in various subject areas.
Computer/Media Lab/LAN
The computer lab is equipped with computers running current releases of the Windows operating system and Microsoft Office applications. Students have a work folder on the network, and they may access their work from any student computer in the building. Grades 2-6 have an assigned computer class each week where they are taught computer skills. Younger elementary students are introduced to the coputer lab during the school year. Middle school students use the computer lab with their teachers in the context of their regular classes. In addition, we will be implementing a mobile computer lab this year with our middle school students.

Each classroom is equipped with a computer dedicated for teacher use. All teachers have Internet and e-mail access to enhance professional development, curriculum related research, and communications between home and school. Classrooms are all Internet accessible and have at least one computer dedicated for student use and Internet access. |
